PRO-GROWTH BUSINESSMEN TO RUN FOR CITY COUNCIL!

I can't wait to hear from a group of pro-albuquerque businessmen who intend to run for city council and change the business atmosphere aof ABQ! Here's a quote from a NM Business Journal article which ran yesterday (7/7):

The next round of elections for the Albuquerque City Council is not until October, but several candidates from the business community are preparing for campaigns that will make for interesting debate on the future of the city.

"I think we're a very anti-business city right now," says Trudy Jones, a vice president with Grubb & Ellis | New Mexico, the state's largest commercial real estate firm. "And we're basically anti-growth. Too many people have the idea 'I love it here, I love it just the way it is and I don't want that to change.' That's not possible because, if a city doesn't grow, it dies..."

Aparently the business community thinks we're anti-growth and anti-business and this is why we can't get anything done around here. I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to hearing what these candidates have to say come election time!

I would like to see them address roads and freeways (I-25/Paseo Interchange, a freeway loop, west side roads) arena/hotel, and their view on the recent chatter about 5 or 6 skyscrapers in the news. This is possibly the break we've been waiting for!
